BrickPal Support
Help for BrickPal, the iPhone app for tracking your LEGO® collection.
Email: lee.gower17@gmail.com — we aim to reply within 2 working days.
When reporting a problem, it helps enormously if you include your username, your iPhone model and iOS version, and the set number involved if it's about a specific set.
Getting started
Marking what you own. Open any set or minifigure and tap Owned or Wishlist. From the catalog grid you can also tap the small + and star buttons on a thumbnail without opening the set.
Marking something owned automatically takes it off your wishlist — you'll never have the same set in both places.
Tracking builds. Tap Built on a set to mark it built. You can optionally add start and finish dates, which feed the building statistics on the Stats tab. Dates are entirely optional — you can mark a set built without them.
Sold a set? On any owned set, tap "I've sold this (mark previously owned)". It stays in your history and keeps its rating and build dates, but stops counting toward your current collection.
Rating sets. Give any set you own 1–5 stars. Your highest-rated sets and average rating appear under Stats → Highlights.
Scanning
Point the camera at a set or minifigure and tap the shutter, or use the photo library button to pick an existing picture.
For the best results:
- Use bright, even lighting
- Put the item against a plain background
- Shoot straight on rather than at an angle
- For sets, the box art works better than the built model
Scanning works best on sealed boxes and distinctive minifigures. Very common bricks and heavily customised builds may not match.
Prices and collection value
BrickPal shows the recommended retail price (RRP) for sets, in your local currency, and adds them up into an estimated collection value on the Stats tab.
"Why does it say 17 of 24 sets priced?"
Some sets simply have no published RRP, and no amount of refreshing will find one. This normally applies to:
- Gift-with-purchase and promotional sets — never sold on their own, so there is no retail price
- Individual collectible minifigures — these are catalogued as separate items, but LEGO only ever priced the whole series
- Merchandise and promo items such as patches and mosaics
The Stats tab tells you exactly how many of your sets fall into this category. Once BrickPal has looked a set up, it remembers the answer permanently, so pressing Update prices again costs nothing and won't change the result.
Changing currency: Settings → Currency. Prices are shown in that currency wherever one is published for your region.
Your collection view
Sets, Minifigs and Wishlist are swipeable tabs. The Minifigs tab is clever — as well as figures you've tracked individually, it works out every minifigure contained inside the sets you own, so your figure count reflects your real collection.
Collectible minifigure series are tracked series-by-series so you can see how close you are to completing one.
Sorting and filtering: use the controls at the top of the Sets tab to sort by piece count, year, name or rating, and to filter down to a single theme.
Friends
Search for a friend's username, follow them, and compare collections head to head — including who owns more of a given theme and which sets you both have.
To be findable, your profile needs to be public: Settings → Public profile. New accounts are public by default. Turning it off hides your collection and statistics from everyone else. Your email address is never visible to other users.
Account
Changing your catalog view. Settings → Themes lets you hide themes you don't collect so the catalog only shows what you care about.
Newsletter. Turn it on or off any time in Settings → Newsletter.
Deleting your account. Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, collection, wishlist, ratings, build history and follows. It cannot be undone and there is no recovery period, so please be sure.
Forgotten password. On the sign-in screen, type your email address and tap Forgot password?. We'll email you a link — opening it on your iPhone takes you straight back into BrickPal to choose a new password.
If the link opens a browser page instead of the app, make sure BrickPal is installed on that device and try opening the email on the iPhone itself rather than a computer.
Didn't get the confirmation email? Check your spam folder first. If it still hasn't arrived after a few minutes, email us and we'll sort it out.
